DBA at Elmore Field Days 2017
Being an exhibitor at the Elmore field days this year gave us the opportunity to connect with a range of producers looking for other options. This was really encouraging for us and since the exhibit, DBA field officers have followed up with on farm visits to those who showed interest.
We would like to welcome all new producers who have signed up with DBA. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead. A big thanks to our calf rearers and existing producers who managed to bare the bad weather and visit our site!
International Dairy Week and All Breeds Youth Camp 2017
In Early January prior to exhibiting at Dairy Week we were given the opportunity to sponsor the National Centre for Dairy Education’s All Breeds Youth Camp.
The camp was aimed at post secondary aged students, each were given the responsibility of taking a just broken to lead heifer, in paddock condition, to the show ring in only 5 days. A few of the participants even went on to compete in the Youth Show at International Dairy Week.
This was our first year exhibiting and given the rough time that it’s been for the industry over the past 12 months it was good to see so many of our existing clients there.
The Youth Show was a stand out, along with the world wide sires auction. Being there to witness history with the sale of Holstein heifer calf ‘Jedi Gigi’ for $251 000 was very exciting! There were also industry seminars to attend on such topics as nutrition, reproduction, calf rearing & the market outlook for grain.
Both events were such a success. It was great to be able to share our passion for agriculture while helping to support young people with their interest in the dairy industry. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
